and the Blue LED's are being awarded to the first 25 people who joined the forums.
Thanks, Jimbo! Let's do something nice for the next 25, too.

Jeri and Jimbo waxed emotional talking about how they learned a lot of their early circuit savvy from these:

The Fat Man and Circuit Girl Cast 6 from Jeri Ellsworth on Vimeo

This week:
A nerdy way to say "It's over."
A high-tech reason to listen to your mother.
and
Will the TSA let Jeri fly with her new watch?

How to get your mom's voice into your GPS

Here's what you need:

Download file "Fatmans TomTom Voice Script aa.xls"

Download file "TomTomVoiceCommands.txt"

And the software/directions posted at The Ultimate Guide to Creating Custom TomTom Voice Files

AND

Here's my mom's voice for _your_ TomTom.

Just plug your TomTom into your computer, and copy these two files to the "voices" directory. The next time you go to preferences/change voice, a new character will show up--Mom!

Download file "Blossom.vif"

Download file "data72.chk"

That ought to work. If not, try renaming "Blossom.vif" to "data72.vif."

Win Jeri's Bluetooth Chicken by playing "Still Alive" on the GHX!!

Do you just LOVE Jonathan Coulton? Of course you do, he's one of us...too smart to be a "cool musician."

And here's your chance to actually out-nerd him by playing one of his songs on an instrument that he can't play...YET.*

You'll need:

  • A Guitar Hero or Rockband controller for XBOX
  • A mic or webcam
  • A copy of the GHX software by our Proto-Scientiste friend Thom Robertson. The free demo version will work fine.
  • The chart that the Fat Man has prepared for you (click below.)
    Download file "Still_Alive GHX.doc"

Record your rending, er, rendition of Still Alive in either video or audio and send it to us before Jeri posts her version

Send to: TheFatManAndCircuitGirl @ Gmail.com (remove the spaces!)

Please Do Not Be Fearful. We're not looking for "musical talent." Play the tune in a way that entertains us, or that's fun for you. This is a safe place to stretch your limits and be goofy. If anybody laughs at you in any but a loving way, know this: That person's stock will go down in our eyes, and yours will go up.

And hey, you might just be The Talented Winner. Remember, if George can win a trophy at a demo party, you can win a trophy for a musical performance.

Here is the inventor of the GHX, getting down with some Duran Duran.

*(JoCo did sign Fat's Guitar Hero controller when they went out for beer in Austin, but that's another story.)
